Squeeze Tour 2022

Squeeze Tour 2022:The South London new-wave warriors, Squeeze, have announced New Zealand show dates for 2022 with their brand new tour ‘The Songbook Tour’.

With shows set to land in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, fans around the country will have a chance to see brand new material from Squeeze, as well as hits like ‘Cool For Cats’, ‘Tempted’ and ‘Up The Junction’ as Squeeze bring the soundtrack of the 70s and 80s into full focus.

“‘I am over the moon to be announcing the 2020 tour with Squeeze.”, says Glenn Tilbrook. “We’ve had something of a renaissance in the last few years, and look forward to this continuing, as we will play a set of songs that are new, contemporary and as innovative as people have come to expect from us, along with the old beauties.”

With two critically-acclaimed albums in the past three years, and a live show that has seen them headline numerous festivals in the UK (as well as sell their own sold out shows around the world), “something of a renaissance” seems like an understatement.

Ever hardworking, the band will bring their scintillating live performances to adoring Kiwi fans in 2020, treating them to not just the hits, but also rarities that span their 45 year career both as Squeeze and solo artists.

Tickets for Squeeze’s 2022 New Zealand live dates go on sale at 12.00pm on Friday June 7 via the website.

Squeeze Tour 2022

Squeeze are an English power pop band from London, consisting of founding members Glenn Tilbrook, Chris Difford, alongside newer members Simon Hanson, Stephen Large and Lucy Shaw. The original line-up also consisted of Paul Gunn and Jools Holland.

Formed in 1974, the band released their debut self-titled album in 1978, and released four albums, including 1979’s, ‘Cool For Cats’, which contained the singles, Cool For Cats and Up The Junction, that both reached #2 in the UK Singles Chart, before splitting up in 1982.

The band reformed again in 1984, and released another eight albums, before calling it a day again in 1999. They returned again in 2007, with ‘Spot the Difference’ in 2010 and ‘Cradle to the Grave’ being released in 2015.

Their latest album, ‘The Knowledge’ dropped in October 2018.

Squeeze have announced a marathon UK, Ireland and US tour for autumn 2019: The Difford and Tilbrook Songbook tour with guests Heaven 17 in the UK. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.

Squeeze formed in 1974, shortly after teenage friends Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook began their songwriting partnership, brought together by an ad in a sweetshop window. By 1977 they had made their recording debut and enjoyed a string of hits that lasted until 1982. Over the years there have been solo careers and occasional separations, but the Ivor Novello Award-winning songwriting duo got back together in 2007 to relaunch Squeeze.

Cradle to the Grave is the band’s latest and 14th studio album. It features the first collection of new songs from Difford and Tilbrook since 1998. Squeeze are touring the UK in 2017 with their Join the Dots tour.
